The year 2007 was indeed an eventful year, for the 2-year-old canoeing team of SAJC. In order to gain racing experience, we trained for various competitions and pitted ourselves against the strongest competitors in the canoeing arena. We experienced a hint of fulfillment when we achieved a humble start in the National Junior Canoeing Championships. Our morale skyrocketed and we put in all our might into the trainings, as we aimed to establish ourselves as a new force to be reckoned with. Our numerous months of perspiration and tears came to fruition when we vied for the top 5 placing in the PA Paddle Championship and the National Inter-School Canoeing Championship. To add to our jubilation, we achieved beyond the medals, and truly experienced a strong sense of accomplishment and camaraderie. Up and On!

Pioneer SAJC Canoeing Team

SAJC Canoeing was spearheaded by 3 students - Dawn Au (05S91), Cindy Kwok (05S91) and Chiu Yashu (05S74), who possessed deep passion for this sport.
Despite facing tremendous odds, countless proposal writings, garnering of support and making calls to people they hardly knew, they persevered and finally in May 2005… their dream transformed into reality!
SAJC Canoeing was officially formed in August 2005. Water training started in November 2005 at Kallang PA Water Venture.
Despite daunting challenges ahead, the pioneer team overcame numerous obstacles and fought hard at the MR500, National Women Kayaking Championship and National Inter-school 'A' Division Canoeing Championship 2006.
